The Miami Marlins organization uses a CRM to maintain employee contact information and records. Prior to the setup of the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) integration, they were exporting a CSV manually from their CRM, then uploading it into Delivra on a weekly basis to keep their contact records up to date within their Delivra account.
While this was working for their use case, it wasn’t really the most efficient method to use, especially considering these contact records needed to be updated on a recurring basis.
When it comes to these kinds of processes, it is helpful to automate as much as possible to prevent mistakes that manual intervention can sometimes cause and make the overall experience of maintaining the health of your email list as seamless and easy as possible.
What is FTP integration?
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) integration relays the transfer of data between various systems. This functionality can be used to create a seamless transfer of data between Delivra and other software systems, such as CRMs.
Files in CSV format can be uploaded to an SFTP site, which can then transfer data into Delivra once we provide the credentials necessary to authenticate the connection.
Each party is given a username and password to connect to the server. Once connected, these kinds of file uploads can be used to import and/or update your contacts in Delivra. These uploads can even be automated to recur on a schedule, which essentially creates a direct integration between Delivra and your CRM.
How the Miami Marlins used FTP
With the FTP integration established, the Marlins are able to add and update employee data within their Delivra contact records.
The CSV export from their CRM is scheduled to happen weekly, so their contacts are updated automatically on a recurring basis. This allows them to keep an up-to-date list of active employees and send regular updates to these employees via email correspondence.
Where does the data live in Delivra?
Once the CSV file is dropped on the FTP, the import is treated the same way as a manual contact import. The import can be found in the import history of your Delivra contacts dashboard once it is initiated, along with all of the information pertaining to the import (ID, Date/Time, Status, etc.).
The column headers of the CSV will map to the proper fields within your Delivra contact records in order to add or update those contacts’ information.
